Say Yes to the Dishes
When your two year old wants to help you do the dishes, let her help.
Even though it will take three times as long, let her help.
Even though you will have to rewash things a few times, let her help.
Even though by the end of the chore, you will both be soaking wet (and so will the kitchen floor), let her help.
Let her help anyway because it's WORTH IT to hear her giggle. It's worth it to see the sense of pride and accomplishment on her face. It's worth it to spend time together somewhere as simple as the sink.
I've heard that she won't always want to do things with me, and I know she won't always ask to do chores. I'm in a season where I feel like the only word out of my mouth is "no." Sometimes, like when it comes to doing the dishes, I can say "yes," and I can let her help. Plus...who doesn't want company and entertainment while standing at the sink?
Today, I'm thankful for time with my oldest girl while little sister is asleep.
