Battle Cry: Part 1
“A battle cry is a yell or chant taken up in battle, usually by members of the same combatant group.” -Dictionary.com
Now that we have been matched with a child, we would love your continued partnership in this journey. We have made the commitment to battle for a little boy, and we are asking you to suit up with us. Help us cry out to the Father over these specific requests this month:
1. Pray that a stack of documents called Originals would arrive from India this month. His orphanage is in control of this step so pray that they would get these to us quickly. We have heard that sometimes they drag their feet on this step. Pray that would not be the case this time. We need these documents before our case can move forward with any more U.S. approvals.
2. I was going to have you pray that we would get an approval from the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services called the I800a, BUT we got this approval much sooner than expected. Typically it takes 75+ days, but we got ours in 55 days! Praise God, this is the fastest I have seen anyone receive it lately. Unfortunately, though, now we are stuck - see #1. And unfortunately, this may need to be updated again in a few weeks - see #3. (1 step forward, 2 steps back, y’all, but we will get there eventually!)
3. I was also going to have you pray about a very specific, super expensive personality test that we needed (because India JUST added new requirements to the process). We could only find ONE person in KC who could help us, and we still couldn’t get into them until the end of the month, which was likely to hold up our adoption process....but, alas, God already took care of that one for us too! Two days ago we found out we no longer need that assessment. We do still need to meet with a psychologist and have some pretty detailed reports written, but it is now cheaper AND we can get in next week! Pray that everything would go smoothly and that our reports would be written and approved quickly. After that, we may need to update our home study and immigration paperwork AGAIN (Yes, that I800a approval we JUST received). We are praying we won’t have to do any updating. If we do, we are hoping that this new requirement and these additional steps will be finished quickly so it won’t delay our process.
4. Most importantly- pray for our son. Pray that he would miraculously thrive in institutionalized care. Pray that he would be well-fed and well-taken care of by the orphanage workers. Pray that he would know, would somehow feel, that he is already loved and sought after. Pray that he would be held and rocked and hugged and talked to by his caregivers until he can be in our arms.
We hope to provide you with updates, praises of how God is moving in our case, and specific prayer requests each month until He brings our son home. I’m calling this our “Battle Cry” series. I will do my best to get it out on the 6th of each month, as that is the day when our little guy turns 1 month older. As of today, he is 9 months old. We don’t want to miss out on many more of those months so we appreciate your prayers for a speedy process.
Thank you also for staying with us over the last (almost) 5 years. You finally get to see some movement! Below is a photo of the remainder of our process. Hopefully we can see the rest of those things crossed off that list quickly! I’m most anxious to get to step #11 as that is when we get to travel to India and MEET HIM!
