2018: A Numerical Recap

2018: A Numerical Recap

2018 was a year of miracles, celebrations, victories, tears, hope, love, homecomings, fears, and so many answered prayers. Through it all, God was good. I can not adequately or fully describe it, so I thought I’d just give you a numerical recap.

In 2018 I...

-stared at a photo for 126 days (+ more in 2017) before finally holding my son in my arms
-mailed 13 pounds of paperwork to India
-hit the 5 year anniversary of when we started the adoption process
-watched God perform countless miracles, allowing us to take custody of our son just 4.5 months after we matched with him
-spent 21 days in India
-went from 2 children to 3 children
-watched our son take his 1st steps
-had 6 dates with my husband (we’re going to work on that in 2019)
-celebrated 6 years at Antioch Bible Baptist Church
-drove to Abilene, TX 2 times
-went to church about 104 times (give or take a few Sundays or Wednesdays home with sick kids)
-visited the dentist 5 times (the year of the never ending toothache, y’all)
-celebrated our 7th anniversary in the backyard beside a kiddie pool with 3 kids (no where I’d rather be for our 7th)
-saw the pediatrician about 25 times (we might be BFFs by now)
-have 3 healthy children
-sent 2 kids to preschool
-launched 13 third graders and then took 11 new third graders under my wing
-drank at least 365 cups of lukewarm coffee (don’t worry, I got a Yeti for Christmas!)
-buckled roughly 600 car seats (but buckled 0 car seats in India)
-tucked 2 kids into bed for 5 months and 3 kids into bed for 7 months
-ate about 10 packs of Oreos while my children were sleeping
-gave endless hugs and kisses
-watched our daughter’s 1st dance recital
-listened to the Frozen soundtrack almost every single day
-read 3 books of my own choosing (I’m going to work on this too)
-read approximately 2,345 children’s books
-parented a 1, 2, and 3 year old at the same time and lived to tell about it
-ate at Chick-Fil-A more times than I would like to admit
-ran 0 miles (but still like to say I’m a runner)
-walked up and down 2 flights of stairs all day chasing 3 children (Does that make up for the 0 miles?)
-shopped at the grocery store 0 times (online grocery order & pickup, people!)
-had 2 visits from our social worker
-told my husband I loved him over 365 times
-spent approximately 100 hours on Marco Polo
-visited the Children’s Hospital 8 times
-witnessed 2 seizures
-missed Marcus for 8 days while he went back to Southeast Asia
-wrote 35 blog posts (that’s a record!)
-unfortunately, did not read my Bible all 365 days (a 2019 goal)
-distributed about 254 bandaids to my children (bandaids cure all, guys)
-celebrated: a 2nd birthday (Hattie), a 1st birthday (Judah when he was still 8,503 miles away), a 32nd birthday (me), an 11th birthday (our dog Beckham), a 29th birthday (Marcus), a 4th birthday (Eliza), and a 1.5 birthday (Judah when he was in our arms)
-loved every single loud, messy, hard, silly, sweet, chaotic, overwhelming, hilarious moment of growing from a family of 4 to a family of 5
